What will I study?
This course will cover a more in-depth introduction to key principles of Printmaking.
The course is designed to challenge students and help them develop a wide range of printmaking skills. Students will need to complete two units in order to gain the Award, the 1st being the Principles of Printmaking where they will learn about the contexts and approaches to printmaking as well as a range of printmaking methods and will be able to print on a variety of materials. Students will produce a range of prints to achieve various creative outcomes.
The second unit will focus on Experimental printing taking advantage of Blackburn Colleges excellent facilities and allow students to develop their practice combining printing techniques to solve creative problems and create a wide variety of experimental prints.
You will start by producing visual research and learning where to find inspiration. Students will be taught how to recognise trends and develop prints accordingly. Every lesson is practical, and you will learn through tutor led instructions and demonstrations, hands-on making, and tutor feedback on your work. You will be required to work autonomously and produce work demonstrating a more in-depth level of knowledge compared to the Level 2 Award.
At the end of the 15-week course you will gain a UAL level 3 Award in printmaking and be able to progress on to the Level 3 Award.

Be able to combine prints to create a range of experimental outcomes.
