    This course is suitable for someone new to MS Access or with some experience.  It will take the attendee through the various aspects and Functionality of MS Access including a brief introduction to Database Design.

  • What will I study?

    Week 1 - Introduction to MS ACCESS and Database Design

    An introduction to Relational Databases and Database Design (Schema)

    Week 2 - Introduction to ACCESS Tables and Data Types

    Access Tables and Data Types, Naming Schemes, Primary Keys, Foreign Keys

    Week 3 - Further ACCESS Tables

    Referential Integrity, Data Integrity, Relationships, Lookups

    Week 4 - Introduction To ACCESS Queries

    SELECT, INSERT, DELETE, UPDATE, MAKE TABLE

    Week 5 - Further ACCESS Queries (Aggregate and Parameter)

    SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX, FIRST, LAST, GROUP BY, COUNT

    Week 6 - Introduction to Access Reports

    Data Representation in reports and formatting

    Week 7 - Further ACCESS Reports

    Grouping and Sorting Data

    Week 8 - Introduction to ACCESS Forms and Interface Design

    Data entry forms, Bound and Unbound

    Week 9 - Further ACCESS Forms and Introducing Macros

    Dialogues, Switchboards, Sub forms, Form Buttons and Actions

    Week 10 - Bringing it all together with a finished application

    Rounding off the various aspects of the MS ACCESS application students have built upon each week.

  • Entry requirements

    Good basic use of computers/navigating screens in Microsoft.  This course is suitable for someone new to MS Access or with some experience.
