What will I study?

This qualifications consists of mandatory units covering knowledge and skills competencies with optional specialisms which can be are combined in flexible ways to reflect the real working context of different learners.
The mandatory unit content covers person centred approaches, communication, personal development, values and behaviours, prevention and control of infection, handling information, mental health and wellbeing; responsibilities of the role, safeguarding, health and safety; equality and diversity; and study skills.
The optional units are designed to meet the requirements of a range of healthcare services and to support the delivery of the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship standard for England and include the following areas:
- Clinical Care
- Health Navigation
- Care of Older People
- Learning Disability Support
- Community Support
- Maternity Support

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by you tutors and assessor To achieve the level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support, candidates must achieve a minimum of 65 credits. To do this they must achieve 45 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 20 credits from the optional units. Out of the total 65 credits 37 credits must be at level 3 and above.
What can I do next?

This qualification allows candidates to learn, develop and demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for employment and/or career progression in Healthcare.
Learners can progress to the City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma for Assistant Practitioners in Healthcare providing they are in an appropriate job role. Opportunities may also be available to progress to an apprenticeships at level 5 such as the Assistant Practitioner in Healthcare or the Nursing Associate, or to higher education programmes, providing all entry requirements are met.
