This course is designed for adult learners wishing to study Urdu at a basic level in order to communicate. No previous knowledge of Urdu is required to study at this level however; a keen interest in the language is advantageous. The course would also be suitable for learners who studied at beginner’s level some years previously and would like to brush up their skills.

Entry Requirements

No previous knowledge of Urdu is required to study at this level, although a keen interest in the language is necessary.

What will I study?

Over the 30 week period you will study basic phrases in the present tense only, which will enable you to communicate in a variety of simple situations. You will learn appropriate vocabulary and grammatical structures relevant to these situations.

  • Greetings
  • Personal Information
  • Ordering food and drinks
  • Asking for directions
  • Travelling (Buying tickets)
  • Booking Accommodation

Grammatical structures:

  • Gender agreement
  • Singular/plural formation
  • Pronouns
