The Level 2 qualification will enable you to make steps towards a career in the Sport and Fitness industries as well as allowing you to progress onto our Level 3 programmes.

Overview

The sports sector continues to grow and it is an exciting time to get involved. We have developed close links with local sports coaching companies and also BWD and you will engage with further guest speakers.

The course itself has examined and coursework-based units which are designed to develop your knowledge of practical sports performance and analysis, fitness testing and programming, leadership and coaching, anatomy, sport psychology and the impact of lifestyle as well as enhancing your employability skills.

You will take part in classroom based, practical, leadership and outdoor sessions. Alongside the study programme you also complete a Level 2 Sports Leaders qualification which is industry recognised. If required you can also study Maths and English GCSE's which will enable progression onto a Level 3 study programme.

What will I study?

During this one-year full-time study programme you will study a wide range of subjects related to Sport, Health and Fitness sectors. You also will develop the fundamental and employability skills that are required to be successful in the industry and life. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in the classroom, practical setting and outdoors.

Finally, alongside your main study programme you will complete an enhancement qualification which is industry recognised namely Level 2 Sport Leaders.

Entry Requirements

You will need 3 x GCSEs at grade D/3.

If you have not achieved a Grade C/4 or above in your Maths and English Language GCSEs you will be required to work towards a GCSE Grade C/4 in these subjects as part of your Study Programme.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through written assignments and practical observations, plus 2 x eternal assessment (exams).

What can I do next?

You could use this qualification as a stepping stone to a Level 3 Sport programme or you could move onto other related programmes within college.
