Job Description

We are a well established, busy Out of School Club with an Outstanding grading from Ofsted.  We provide care for children aged 3-12. We are working with St Bartholomew's CofE Primary School.

Job Duties:

Ensure that the provision complies with the requirements set out by Ofsted

Ensuring the delivery of the E.Y.F.S for younger children, and appropriate care and creative play opportunities, for all children, in a safe and caring environment

Providing full care for children: facilitation of toilet needs/changing, providing food and refreshments

Meeting all the needs of children

The planning and preparing of activities

Record keeping and safety checks

Administering first aid and medication once qualified to do so

Attending staff meetings

Working alongside and with other members of the team

Engaging in training and development as required

Working within agreed Policies and Procedures

Maintain the care of equipment

Involvement in Key Worker systems, including observations of children

Collection and delivery of children to and from school

Communicating with parents and other organisations

Any other tasks, as agreed, to ensure the continuous provision of high quality childcare

Light cleaning duties, preparing of snacks etc

Skills

  • A willingness to learn and complete all training required
  • Good communication skills

Personal Qualities

Essential qualities:

  • Understanding the varied needs of children and their families
  • Understanding the issues involved in the delivery of quality play care
  • Understanding the issues of equal opportunities
  • Provide and facilitate safe and creative play
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Sound judgement and common sense
  • Sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children 

Desirable qualities:

  • Experience of working within a play-based setting
  • Competent in using IT to support play
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Relevant qualification or willingness to work towards this
  • Appropriate child protection training or willingness to work towards this
  • Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate or willingness to work towards this

Qualifications

  • Must pass an initial assessment at Blackburn College

Future Prospects

  • Potential to progress onto Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprenticeship

Things to Consider

  • The hours will be 22.5 per week term time plus college hours, school holidays will be 30 hrs per week plus any extra to make up from term time. The working hours are 7.45am till 9am and 14.45-18.00.
