We are looking for 3 candidates for our apprentice programme within our factory in Blackburn. We are a family run business that has been successfully trading for 12+ years. The vacancy is within our sewing room, we produce a varied number of items including, military bags and pouches, safety equipment, pet products, cometic bags & ruck sacks, all our work involves working with heavyweight fabrics.
Candidate will be taught how to operate the following machines safely and competently
- Industrial Flat bed sewing machine
- 4 & 5 thread overlocking machine
- Synchronized binding machine
- Bar tack Machine
- Hot & Cold narrow fabric cutting machine
- Eyelet machine
The candidate will have daily interaction with our sewing room supervisor, they will be allocated a member of staff to train them and to become their mentor. Weekly informal chats with the directors to ensure everything is going well.
Skills Required
No prior skills are required as this an apprentice role, it would be a bonus if the candidate had some previous sewing experience.
Must be able to take instructions and be able to read and write, basic English speaking essential.
Attention to detail is a must.
Personal Qualities
Candidates must be enthusiastic, willing to learn, punctual & have a good attitude towards the workplace.
