Our study programme is for students aged 16 -18 and have moved to the UK from another country and would like to continue their education in Britain.
At Blackburn College, our programme is delivered over 16 hours to get you ready to enrol onto a vocational course once the required level is achieved. Start at any level, whether beginner, pre-intermediate or intermediate.
What will I study?
English - 10 hours of English to gain confidence in reading, writing, speaking and listening
Maths - 1.5 hours of Maths to gain confidence in using Maths
ICT - 2 hours of ICT (Computing)
Project Work - 2 hours create your own fundraising events. As a group you will choose charities that you will help with raising funds. This will develop your skills and confidence in English Weekly sports session to discover a new activity every week
- Developing a personal progression plan
- Branding your business product (idea)
- Designing an interactive presentation - promoting your business
What will I study?
British Values - 2 hours of tutorials learning all about citizenship, British Values and living in the UK
Community - Discover the local community, meet the Mayor of Blackburn, visit Blackburn Youth Zone, museum, library, BBC Radio Lancashire, take part in Jujitsu and visit the Manchester Christmas Markets
Volunteer - Volunteering and job fairs, plus attend sessions to develop your confidence
Sport - Weekly sports session to discover a new activity every week
