What is Sexual Harassment?
Sexual harassment is a form of sexual violence that includes any sexual activity or act that occurs without consent. It can be:
- Physical, such as unwanted touching
- Verbal, including inappropriate comments or jokes
- Emotional, like manipulation or coercion
Blackburn College does not tolerate any form of sexual harassment.
Colleges and universities have a duty of care to protect and promote the welfare of their students. At Blackburn College, we take all complaints seriously and will respond with fairness, sensitivity, and urgency.

How to report sexual harassment?
You can report incidents of sexual harassment in the following ways by contacting the Safeguarding Team:

The team will offer advice, guidance, and next steps, tailored to your individual experience. This includes putting the right support in place and involving the appropriate authorities if needed. If the incident occurred outside of college/university:
- Call the police on 101 (non-emergency)
- Call 999 in an emergency
