"I did a Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship with Blackburn College. I think the best thing about my apprenticeship was the fact that I was able to experience actually working as well as learning"

I just thought I’d go for it and do it, and then obviously it had a really beneficial outcome and I’m really pleased I did it.

"I get a lot of hands-on experience here at Blackburn college and the teachers, they’re ex-mechanics themselves. So wherever we get stuck at work or something and they can give us the best advice they can. They have a full facility built for cars and they’ve also got a place where you can learn about hybrid vehicles. It was the best choice for me, to be honest. The support I received at Blackburn College was immense. I had teachers help me out all throughout my course. I learned a lot, theory wise so you could put that into the actual work, at the workplace.”
Thomas Kaye
Studied: Level 3 NVQ Plumbing and Heating
Winner: Plumbing Award Winner
"I’d say the best thing about my apprenticeship was probably earning while I was learning. Great to have that extra bit of income coming in. If you’re on a full time course, you’re learning, but you’re not getting anything else more than that. Well, I’m gaining my knowledge and experience both in classroom learning, the knowledge I need and then gaining the experience on sites"
Uzma Danbharia
Studied: Level 2 Early Years
Winner: Early Years & Education Award
"The best thing about my apprenticeship is just experiencing loads of time with everyone around me, people in my workplace. It gave me loads of different skills and you just get to meet loads of new people from different age groups. They all made me feel welcome and I knew that every year, I just get to see smiles on their faces and I wanted to start it immediately. I didn’t want to wait until when I was qualified. I wanted to do it while I was learning at the same time."
Alice Aspinall
Studied: Housing Practice Level 3
"I would say my main support was my tutor, Katie. Every time I needed help with an assignment, she’d be there to help. I’d just done my A-Levels at sixth form, and knew that going to uni wasn’t really what I wanted to do. Doing an apprenticeship just felt like a better option as it was earning as you learn. So it seemed the better route for me."
Anees Desai
Studied: Level 4 Accounting and Finance (AAT Apprenticeship)
"It was a good decision for me to make and study at Blackburn College. Currently, I am now a Management Accountant at EG Group. I was an assistant management accountant and now I'm a management accountant. My apprenticeship has helped me develop and receive this promotion."
