Overview
The broad purpose of the occupation is to provide first line cyber security support. This requires individuals to monitor and detect potential security threats and escalate as necessary and to support secure and uninterrupted business operations of an organisation through the implementation of cyber security mechanisms and the application of cyber security procedures and controls.

What will I study?
Some of the modules you may study are:
- Principles of organisational information security governance and the components of an organisation's cyber security technical infrastructure.
- Cyber security policies and standards based on an Information Security Management System (ISMS)
- Types of physical, procedural and technical controls
- Awareness of how current legislation relates to or impacts upon the occupation
- Cyber security awareness and components of an effective security culture, different organisational structures and cultures

Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment.

You can go on to a career within the Digital industry or go on to a Higher Level Apprenticeship or Degree.

Your Study Programme
This apprenticeship is delivered over a period of 18 months. As part of the programme, you will attend college one day per week for dedicated apprenticeship training. The remainder of your training will take place within your workplace, where you will apply your learning in a real-world setting and continue to develop the skills and knowledge required for your role.

Apprenticeship Funding
The government provides funding to support apprenticeship training. Funding is available for employers who operate a PAYE scheme. Depending on the size of your business and the age of the apprentice, you may be eligible for full funding or be required to contribute just 5% towards the training costs.
- Levy-paying employers (those with an annual payroll over £3 million) will have apprenticeship training costs covered through their Apprenticeship Levy account.
- Non-levy paying employers will pay 5% of the total cost of training for apprentices aged 21 and over.
- Employers with fewer than 50 employees may be eligible for full funding if the apprentice is aged between 16 and 21 at the start of the apprenticeship.
