University Centre Blackburn College teaching staff rated top of the class for students
University Centre Blackburn College (UCBC) has surpassed local and national Higher Education providers in this year’s National Student Survey (NSS), beating the national average in the Academic Support category.
The annual National Student Survey (NSS) – one of the largest surveys of its kind – gathers the views of Higher Education (HE) students across the UK about a range of factors related to their academic experience, including the teaching on their course, assessment, and feedback.
The 2024 NSS has highlighted the endeavour of teaching staff at University Centre Blackburn College with 95.8% of students saying they ‘feel supported by teaching staff in their learning’ category. This score tops the region for this category and exceeds the national score of 85.6%.
Overall, UCBC’s Academic Support was scored 94.7% - up from 92% last year – out-performing the national average of 85.5%.
93% of students at UCBC feel they are able to express opinions, ideas, and beliefs. There was also a +6.5% increase in the ‘challenging students to achieve their best work’ category compared to 2023 results.
Other figures include:
- 4% of students rated the teaching on their course positively.
- 8% of students agreed that assessments allowed demonstration of learning - highest in the region.
- 8% of students feel supported by teaching staff in their learning - highest in the region.
