Blackburn College’s School and College Liaison Team ensure that all pupils/students receive high quality careers education, information, advice and guidance whilst also introducing and promoting the range of fantastic courses and facilities available to them at Blackburn College.
The team are available to work with Schools, Sixth Forms and Colleges across Lancashire offering a wide range of engaging activities for students in years 8 to 13. We can support your staff to ensure that your students are fully equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to progress into Further Education, Higher Education or employment.
Available throughout the academic year, the School and College Liaison Team have a wide range of established workshops and activities, as well as the opportunity to work with Schools, Sixth Forms and Colleges on a bespoke basis to add extra value to your curriculum and students.

The School and College Liaison Team are always on hand to support any events you hold in school, whether that be careers fairs, mock interviews or parent’s evenings but there is so much more our team can do to help support your students!

Session 1 - Blackburn College presentation
This informative presentation will help year 11 pupils understand the pathways available to them after GCSEs. Through exploring A Levels, Technical and Vocational courses, Apprenticeships and Degrees the presentation will showcase the range of excellent options available at Blackburn College.

Session 2 - University Centre at Blackburn College presentation
This informative presentation will help year 12 & 13 students understand the options available to them at the University Centre after their A Levels or Vocational/ Technical course. This presentation provides an insight into the range of degrees we have on offer validated by our partners Lancaster University, the University of Central Lancashire and the University of South Wales.

Session 3 - Year 10 pathways presentation
Our pathways presentation explores the different routes available to young people once they leave school. Year 10 is the time for pupils to start thinking post 16 education and our team can help support and guide them to make the right choice.

Session 4 - Career planning workshop
This session will give your pupils chance to look at their personality traits, skills and interests and see which career these correspond with. They will complete an online personality quiz that will link their personality traits to jobs and will be given the skills to search for different careers online.

Session 5 - How to impress in an interview workshop
We can offer invaluable advice to prepare students for an interview. Your students learn about what the tutors and employers are looking for in a potential student or employee and we use role-play to illustrate how to prepare for a successful interview in order to impress.

Session 6 - Personal statement preparation workshop
Students can take part in a workshop where valuable advice is given about the dos and don’ts of providing information for a Personal Statement. Various materials are available to support the workshop including workbooks that can assist the student in preparing their Personal Statement.

Session 7 - CV workshop
This session will give your students all the tools to help create the perfect CV as part of their application, showing them the perfect layout and how to avoid common CV mistakes.

Session 8 - Student finance workshop
Our friendly, experienced Student Finance officers can talk about the Student Finance and funding available as well as incorporate fun activities for students to participate in. You can learn about how to live on a budget, how to make your student loans go further and address any financial concerns that students may have. The team will also discuss what bursaries and scholarships may be available.

Session 9 - Prefect academy workshop
This session can train your new or existing prefects. Training can be tailored to suit your schools individual needs and the time that you have available. Using a range of resources and fun activities, this training will ensure your prefects develop new skills to both support your school and help them in their individual career and self-development.
Training for your prefects will include developing skills in:
- Communication
- Leadership
- Assertiveness
- Teamwork

Session 10 - Team building workshop
This fun and interactive workshop will introduce teamwork skills to your pupils and through a range of challenges, will give them an opportunity to test their skills and highlight areas for development.
