Velocity Composites have an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for sewing looking to start their apprenticeship journey. The company supplies the airline industry with composite material kit bags and manufacture them at their site in Burnley.

Job role: · Operate necessary equipment for the packaging of parts & kits · Handling and preparing a wide range of differing textiles & materials to produce kit components in accordance with SOP & detailed work instructions. · Ensure parts & installation kits are properly identified & labelled. · Perform work in a neat and organised manner within estimated or budgeted hours while maintaining high standards of quality. · Interpretation of diagrams & drawings to prepare materials for cutting · Work with problem solving teams across (Planning, Engineering and Quality Assurance) assisting team leaders & managers with corrective actions. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. |
Skills Required
- Keen eye for detail
- Previous experience working on a sewing machine (basic level)
- Able to perform job assignments to a very high degree of accuracy
- Must be able to work flexible shift to include overtime (as needed)
Personal Qualities
- High level of manual dexterity and detail orientation
- Ability to work in accordance with safety and quality standards
- A quality focused approach to producing accurate work is essential
Qualifications Required
No specific qualifications required, however the appointment will be subject to applicants undertaking an initial assessment with Blackburn College Apprenticeship team.
Working hours are 7.30-4.00pm - If living outside of the area(burnley) car and license would be beneficial for this role.
