This day course is designed to introduce you to the creative and expressive world of painting, perfect for those starting their artistic journey. Painting is a timeless and versatile art form with endless possibilities, and the skills you learn here can be applied to a wide range of creative projects. This is the ideal course for anyone wanting to explore painting from a beginner level and build confidence with colour, materials, and technique.

  • Overview

    · This course will be for aspiring creatives who haven’t painted/are relatively new to painting.

    · It would be helpful for students to have some experience/interest with drawing so they’re not entirely starting from scratch.

  • What will I study?

     

    · Colour theory

    · Mixing colours

    · Different surfaces to apply paint

    · Abstract painting

    · Different artists’ styles of painting

  • Entry Requirements

    There are no specific requirements for this course, other than enthusiasm and passion for learning new painting skills.

  • How will I be assessed?

    · Week 1 – Foundations and Materials

    · Week 2 – Brush control and simple objects

    · Week 3 – Composition and Colour theory

    · Week 4 – Landscape Practice and Final Project discussion

    · Week 5 – Final Project begins

    · Week 6 – Final Project

  • What will I get at the end of the course?

    You will have a selection of paintings on both paper and canvas to take away with you as well as a final project where students choose their subject.
