Computing and Digital Business Services Level 1 programme is a practical course, designed to enhance your exsisting IT skills and provide you with the knowledge and skills that employers and colleges will expect. The course is suitable for students who wish to build on their existing IT skills, develop their employability skills, and have their skills formally recognised.

    In this course, you'll cover a wide range of digital skills essential for today's jobs. From creating websites to analysing data with spreadsheets and databases, you'll learn practical tools and techniques. You'll also explore cybersecurity, audio production, and digital marketing strategies. Plus, you'll improve your employability skills, such as career planning, applying for a job and interview preparation. By the end, you'll have the skills to progress on to Level 2, where you can further expand your knowledge and expertise in the digital field.

  • How will I be assessed?

    Throughout the year, your work will create a portfolio, which your tutor will assess.

    The tutors on your course will use your practical work to assess where your strengths and weaknesses lie, aiding progression and development. At the end of the year, your portfolio will be examined by an external verifier to confirm your success and completion. There are no exams on this course.

    Your tutors will evaluate your strengths and areas for improvement, facilitating your progression and development. 

  • What can I do next?

    You can progress on to the Level 2 Extended Certificate in Digital and IT Skills.

    The progression pathway you will follow depends on your attendance, punctuality, creativity and level of independence shown at Level 1.

    IT Project Manager

    IT project managers oversee the planning, development and installation of computer systems to meet their clients’ business needs. They work for all types of organisations from the NHS to government departments.

    If you're well organised, good at solving problems and have excellent IT skills, you may find opportunities for a rewarding career in this field.

    To get into this job, you'll need experience of working on projects, for example as part of a project support team. Training and qualifications will also help, in particular, PRINCE2 certification.
