Studying this course allows you to develop skills as a CNC Operator, also known as a Machining Tool Operator, who sets up and operates metal-cutting machines to manufacture tools and components for various types of machinery. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints and designs, cutting and shaping metal to create the required parts, and performing routine maintenance on the equipment to ensure optimal performance.

    This course is suitable for students who have a basic knowledge of engineering and/or are willing to learn the basics of engineering.

    This programme is part-time, runs for 8 weeks during evening hours.

     

  • Entry Requirements

    There are no specific entry requirements however we would ask that students are computer literate and willing to learn some basic engineering knowledge.

    During the course, students will be taught how to use the following operational commands and procedures:

    o    Health & Safety

    o    Maintenance

    o    Starting Procedure

    o    Program List and Load

    o    Simulator

    o    Tooling, Feed, Speeds, Heights and Diameter

    o    Tool changing, offsets and compensation.

    o    G and M Codes

    o    Manual Operation, axis movement.

    o    Zero part and Tools

    o    Clamping Stock

  • What can I do next?

    This course will allow students to be able to safely operate a lathe CNC Machine.
