This qualification ensures that you are up-to-date with the latest industry regulation on wiring and the safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems. If you're a practising electrician, you must comply with the regulations for electrical work, this qualification is designed to provide those seeking progression in their career with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the Electrotechnical industry.

  • Entry Requirements

    Practising Electricians with relevant experience & other allied professionals e.g. surveyors, consultants & other trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of IEE Wiring Regulations. Also City & Guilds 2382-22 may also be suitable for anyone wishing to demonstrate an understanding of the IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

    Although there are no formal qualifications to attend the C&G 2382-22, we strongly recommend that candidates should have prior basic knowledge of electrical science along with a basic understanding of electrical installation circuits, to ensure full potential & opportunity to successfully gain the qualification. Familiarity with the current Wiring Regulations would be an advantage.

  • What will I study?

    Those working on the design, installation and inspection and testing of wiring systems will need to be prepared for the changes in order to remain compliant as some of the changes will affect most electrical installation work. These include, but are not limited to:

    • additions to the scope of BS 7671
    • changes to the disconnection times for certain circuits
    • further requirements for circuit protection in domestic dwellings
    • considerations for Arc Fault Detection in many installations
    • supporting of wiring systems
    • inspection and testing procedures

    Requirements for Electrical Installations, IET Wiring Regulations, Eighteenth Edition, BS 7671:2018+A2:2022: (Electrical Regulations)

    Please note 2382-22 Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations is the latest version of BS7671 including Amendment 2.
