This is a Level 3 Barbering programme that will give you the specialist skills needed in the Barbering industry.

Overview

This is a Level 3 Barbering programme that will give you the specialist skills needed in the Barbering industry.

There is an  increasing demand for Barbering services across the UK with many of our students going on to own their barbering business.

Guided by your tutor you will be able to choose from providing shaving services, face massage, designing and creating patterns in hair and creating facial hair shapes

What will I study?

The course will cover both mandatory and optional units that will need completing to be successful. Mandatory units include:

  • Shaving services
  • Design and create patterns in the hair
  • Design and create a range of facial hair shapes
  • Creatively cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques
  • Perm and neutralise hair
  • Facial massage
  • Hair colour correction services
  • Health and safety
  • Salon reception

Guided by your tutor you will choose from providing shaving services, face massage, designing and creating patterns in the hair, colouring hair, developing and enhancing your creative barbering skills, contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities. 

Entry Requirements

A-Level 2 Barbering or Hairdressing course.

FULL ATTENDANCE AT ALL TIMES IS ESSENTIAL

How will I be assessed?

You will take an end point theory exam and a synoptic trade test.

What can I do next?

Once you have completed your Level 3 course, you will be able to progress into employment as an advanced Barber within the sector or to University.

Hairdresser

If you enjoy hairstyling and like meeting different people, this could be the perfect job for you. Hairdressers cut, colour and shape clients' hair to create the look they want.

You can train as a hairdresser either full-time or part-time at a college. You could also work as a trainee, where you would learn on the job and go to college on day release.

To become a hairdresser, you will need to have customer service and 'people' skills. You’ll need creativity and an awareness of fashion. You’ll also need a willingness to learn new techniques and methods.
