Job Overview

This role will support the IT team in various technical and administrative tasks while gaining hands-on experience. The role plays a key part in supporting the smooth running of IT operations, providing assistance to colleagues and developing practical skills across a range of IT systems and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Assist with the day-to-day administration and support of IT systems, hardware, and software.
  • Provide first-line technical support to employees, helping to resolve common IT issues and queries.
  • Assist with setting up and configuring computers, laptops, monitors, phones, and other IT equipment.
  • Support the creation and management of user accounts, access permissions, and passwords.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date IT records, including equipment inventories, user information, and support requests.
  • Assist with installing, updating, and maintaining software and IT applications.
  • Help monitor IT systems and escalate technical issues to senior members of the IT team where required.
  • Support the onboarding and offboarding of employees by preparing IT equipment and managing system access.
  • Assist with maintaining IT documentation, guides, and procedures.
  • Support the IT team with cybersecurity processes, including following company security policies and promoting good security practices.
  • Assist with troubleshooting network, hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Support the IT team in delivering key projects, system upgrades, and technology initiatives.
  • Provide general administrative support to the IT department as required.

 Skills & Personal Qualities

·         Strong interest in IT, technology, and developing technical skills.

·         Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a logical approach to tasks.

·         Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to colleagues.

·         Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) & Microsoft Outlook.

·         A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.

·         Ability to work well within a team and build positive relationships with colleagues at all levels.

·         Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and follow instructions accurately.

·         An interest in learning about IT systems, hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity.

·         A genuine interest in pursuing a career in Information Technology.

Qualifications

Entry requirements are a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or Equivalent) including Maths, English & Science.

Training to be Provided by Blackburn College

Level 3 IT Solutions Technician

Proposed Duration:

20 months

£8.00 (hourly rate)
