L3 Multi Channel Marketer Apprenticeship with IMO charity

The Social Media & Marketing Apprentice will support the delivery of IMO Charity's social media, marketing and communications activity.

The successful candidate will help create engaging content, promote our programmes and events, develop marketing materials, manage social media channels and support digital marketing campaigns.

The role will involve working closely with different departments across IMO Charity to understand their work and identify opportunities to promote the impact of the charity.

The apprentice will gain practical experience while completing their apprenticeship qualification and developing the skills required for a career in marketing and digital communications.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Social Media

  • Support the day-to-day management of IMO Charity's social media channels.
  • Create and schedule engaging content across platforms including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Develop social media content calendars.
  • Write engaging captions and copy suitable for different audiences.
  • Create Instagram Stories, Reels and other short-form content.
  • Monitor comments, messages and engagement.
  • Keep up to date with social media trends, algorithms and new platform features.
  • Help increase IMO Charity's online reach, engagement and following.
  • Identify opportunities to improve social media performance.

2. Content Creation

  • Create graphics, posters, promotional materials and digital content.
  • Use tools such as Canva and other relevant design software.
  • Take photographs and videos at programmes, events and activities.
  • Edit short-form videos for social media.
  • Develop creative campaigns around IMO Charity's programmes and services.
  • Create content highlighting the impact and achievements of the charity.
  • Maintain an organised library of photographs, videos and marketing materials.

3. Marketing

  • Support the development and delivery of marketing campaigns.
  • Help promote IMO Charity's programmes, events, volunteering opportunities and fundraising activities.
  • Support the production of flyers, posters, presentations and other promotional materials.
  • Assist with email marketing and digital communications.
  • Support the development of promotional campaigns targeting different audiences.
  • Help identify new marketing opportunities and platforms.
  • Support the wider team with marketing requests.

4. Website & Digital Content

  • Support the updating of website content.
  • Assist with uploading news, programme information and events.
  • Help ensure website information is accurate and up to date.
  • Support basic SEO and digital marketing activity.
  • Monitor website and digital engagement where appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the charity's online presence.

5. Campaigns & Events

  • Support the marketing of IMO Charity events and activities.
  • Attend events and programme sessions to capture photographs and video content.
  • Develop promotional campaigns for key charity initiatives.
  • Support awareness campaigns and relevant national/international days.
  • Work with programme teams to promote their activities.
  • Help create campaigns that increase participation and engagement.

6. Monitoring & Analytics

  • Monitor social media performance.
  • Track engagement, reach, impressions and follower growth.
  • Assist with monthly marketing reports.
  • Identify high-performing content.
  • Use data to suggest improvements to future campaigns.
  • Support the collection of marketing and communications data.

7. Team Working

  • Work closely with programme and project staff to understand their marketing needs.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute creative ideas.
  • Build positive working relationships across the organisation.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Support other areas of the organisation when required.
  • Represent IMO Charity professionally when attending external events.

 

Person Specification

Essential

Qualification:

·         English and Maths grade 4 minimum.

Skills & Experience

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • An interest in social media and marketing.
  • Good understanding of social media platforms.
  • Creative and able to generate new ideas.
  • Basic digital skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Able to organise work and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn new software and technology.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Experience using Canva.
  • Experience using CapCut or similar video-editing software.
  • Experience creating social media content.
  • Understanding of Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or TikTok.
  • Experience managing a social media account.
  • Basic photography or videography skills.
  • Experience creating posters or promotional materials.
  • Understanding of social media analytics.
  • Previous experience working in a marketing, communications or creative environment.

Potential progression routes include:

Social Media & Marketing Apprentice → Marketing Assistant → Digital Marketing Executive → Digital Marketing Officer → Marketing Manager

Subject to performance, organisational requirements and available opportunities, there may also be potential for progression within IMO Charity following completion of the apprenticeship.

Pay

  • £8.00 per hour

Working Hours

  • Contract: Fixed-term apprenticeship (typically 24 months).
  • Hours: Monday to Friday.
  • Weekend work: Required when the role or events demand it.
