Introduction to Python Programming

This practical 2-day course is designed for complete beginners to programming. The course is suitable for office and administrative staff, data and reporting teams, business analysists, operations and support staff, managers exploring automation opportunities, and anyone with no previous coding experience who wants to learn programming using Python. It is equally useful for those who have tried learning Python independently but need a clear, structured introduction to Python.

Over 2 days, participants learn the core concepts needed to start using Python with confidence. This includes how programming works, writing and running Python code, working with variables, input and output, and data types, making decisions using if statements, using loops for repetition, creating functions, handling data, building simple programs from scratch and learn how to expand the capabilities of Python by using libraries.

The course is delivered by David Batty who will guide you in a structured way through learning Python by writing code small (and one larger) programs over the 2 days. By providing answers throughout the 2 days to any questions posed and guided solutions to programming exercises we go through at various points in the course. David will ensure nobody gets left behind and everyone is comfortable and confident with all the material presented.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to write simple Python programs, apply logical thinking to solve problems, identify opportunities for automation, and begin to think about developing useful scripts for the workplace. They will leave with practical skills, increased confidence, and a clear understanding of how programming can improve business efficiency.
