    On this Apprenticeship you will learn the following:

    To provide learners working in an organisation with the leadership and management knowledge and skills required to progress in their career and on to further study. When taken as part of the Operations/Departmental Manager apprenticeship standard the aim of this qualification is to support preparation for the End Point Assessment (EPA).

  • What will I study?

    ILM - Level 5 Diploma for Leaders and Managers

  • Entry Requirements

    Learners must be in a position to meet the assessment demands of the qualification, which are work based and reflective in nature.  Learners must be employed in an appropriate role, to enable them to demonstrate occupational competence. Learners must also have the opportunity to manage a project. 

    An initial assessment and informal discussion will be undertaken to ensure learners will be able to meet the assessment requirements and, to enjoy the benefits from this programme of study.

    Apprentices will need to achieve Level 2 in English and Maths prior to taking their End Point Assessment.

  • How will I be assessed?

    Assessment will be in two parts:

    • Learners will complete 4 scenario based written assessments, build a portfolio of evidence against the assessment criteria, and undertake professional discussions with your assessor.
    • When the learner is ready they will enter the end-point assessment, where their knowledge will be tested through questions, they will submit a portfolio of evidence, attend a structured interview and present the findings of a work-based project. 
    • A final professional discussion will take place, before the learner graduates with their apprenticeship.

    Successful learners can progress to a range of qualifications, including:

    • Level 6 Qualifications in Management
    • Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (England only)
    • Management related degree course
    • Level 7 Qualifications in Leadership and Management

    Bank Manager

    As the manager of a bank your role would cover managing a team and increasing sales of financial products and services. You would also be responsible for attracting new customers. So if you are interested in finance and want a management role, this could be ideal for you.

    To become a bank manager, you will need to have excellent communication and ‘people’ skills. You’ll need to be able to lead your staff. You’ll also need to be able to understand financial product rules.

    To become a bank manager you could join a bank’s graduate management training scheme. Alternatively, you could work your way up to branch manager from other jobs within a branch's operations or by taking a Higher Apprenticeship in Banking.

    Car Fleet Manager

    A car fleet manager is responsible for running a company’s fleet of vehicles. They deal with the day-to-day operation of the fleet. This can range from a small number of cars to a large group of different vehicles. If you want to use your great organisational skills this job could be perfect for you.

    To be a car fleet manager you will also need to have a flexible approach and the ability to make decisions quickly. You’ll also need to be able to motivate and lead a team.

    Employers will look for IT skills and some experience of business management. You could also take a college course to gain some of the relevant knowledge and skills.
