Blackburn College Welcomes Training 2000 into a New Era of Apprenticeship Excellence  

Blackburn College has announced the acquisition of Training 2000, one of the region’s most respected apprenticeship training providers, marking a significant milestone for skills development across East Lancashire and beyond.  

Founded more than 60 years ago, Training 2000 has played a pivotal role in supporting thousands of apprentices and employers across a wide range of sectors. From advanced manufacturing and engineering to professional services and higher technical qualifications, the organisation has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality training and developing future talent 

The transfer of ownership from the University of Lancashire to Blackburn College represents an exciting new chapter for both organisations. By combining their expertise, resources and longstanding relationships with employers, the partnership will strengthen apprenticeship provision and create even greater opportunities for learners and businesses.

Training 2000 became part of the University of Lancashire in 2017 and has continued to flourish as a leading apprenticeship provider. The close relationship between Blackburn College and the University will continue, ensuring progression pathways into higher education and degree apprenticeships remain available to learners.

 The transfer will take effect for the 2026/27 academic year, with all current apprentices continuing their studies as planned. Training 2000’s headquarters will remain on Harwood Street, Blackburn, and staff will become part of the Blackburn College family, ensuring continuity of expertise, relationships and service.  

The acquisition reinforces Blackburn College’s strategic commitment to delivering outstanding technical and professional education, supporting employers with workforce development and creating life-changing opportunities for learners of all ages.
