BPS Accreditation Awarded to University Centre Blackburn College

The University Centre Blackburn College’s BSc (Hons) Psychology programme has gained the highly valued and nationally recognised accreditation from the British Psychological Society (BPS).

The BPS is the flagship organisation for Psychology in the UK, representing the discipline and those within it for over 120-years. Achieving the accreditation highlights the high quality of provision delivered by the programme at the University Centre Blackburn College (UCBC) and places the graduates of the programme on the same level as those of far larger providers.

Following a two-year assessment process in which the Psychology team worked closely with the BPS and colleagues at Lancaster University, the validating institution for many of UCBC’s degree courses, the team were notified of their success at the start of September, just in time for the new academic year.

Gaining the accreditation means that UCBC graduates are now able to join the BPS as Graduate Members, gaining access to a wide range of training, development and employment opportunities; as well as being able to progress onto advanced Masters’ and Doctorate programmes.

The accreditation will also be backdated for 2022/23 students, who will also be able to benefit from the aforementioned.
