Launchpad lifts off!
We officially opened the doors and welcomed key stakeholders from around the local community, including College staff members, our local council and MP, charities and secondary schools, to look around Launchpad!
The purpose-designed space will help to build students’ confidence and engage their learning on our Future Focus programme.
It was great to hear from Dr Fazal Dad CBE, Principal and Chief Executive of Blackburn College, Mick Smith, Director Newground Together, Phil Riley, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Matt Robinson, Executive Director of Student Support and Experience, and Liam Smith, Community Programmes Manager at Newground Together.
Our programme for young people will enable them to build skills, gain qualifications and get ready for work or further study.
Thank you to everyone who attended, with some special mentions:
- Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council
- Newground Together
- Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone
- One Voice Blackburn
- IMO Charity
- Lancashire Mind
- The Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub
An additional huge thanks to David Lyon, Karen Lilley and our amazing catering and front-of-house students, who prepared and served the stunning food.
We can’t wait to see our Launchpad students rocket!
