Ranked Number 3 Nationally for General Further Education (GFE) Colleges

Date posted: 30th March 2026

Celebrating Double Excellence

  • Ranked Number 2 in Lancashire for 16–19 Achievement Rates
  • Ranked Number 3 Nationally for General Further Education (GFE) Colleges

At Blackburn College, our students continue to raise the bar in their achievements, as recognised in the Government’s latest National Achievement Rate Tables (NARTs). These results are a powerful reflection of our students’ and staff’s hard work, resilience, and commitment to success.

A Message from Dr Fazal Dad CBE – College Principal & Chief Executive:

These results speak volumes about our ambition and direction as a college. To be ranked second in Lancashire and third nationally for 16–19 General Further Education is an incredible testament to the culture we continue to build. Our students strive for excellence, our staff go above and beyond, and together we’re shaping an organisation that delivers meaningful outcomes for every learner who walks through our doors.

Backed by the data… The National Achievement Rate Tables (NARTs) are annual UK Government statistics published via GOV.UK. They measure the proportion of learners who successfully complete their course. These trusted national benchmarks are used across the FE sector to track performance, quality, and progress—meaning our achievements this year reflect real, measurable success.

A Message from Rachel Tarplee - Vice Principal (Curriculum & Quality)

Achievements on this scale doesn’t happen by chance. It comes from a strong curriculum, outstanding teachers, industry leading facilities, and a commitment to ensuring every student progresses to a positive next step. Whether that’s university, employment, higher apprenticeships or training. I’m immensely proud of our staff and students and the plethora of opportunities we create for our learners every day.
