Blackburn Collegeโ€™s impressive achievements reflect the strength of the collegeโ€™s academic and technical education pathways. There has been continued success in supporting studentsโ€™ progression to some of the UK's most prestigious higher education institutions, including Russell Group universities, the University of Manchester, Durham University and University of Liverpool continues.

Alongside strong A Level outcomes, Blackburn College's T Level provision continues to produce remarkable results, demonstrating the collegeโ€™s enduring commitment to further education in technical skills.

One stand out T-Level student, Layla Patel, 18, achieved a Distinction* in T-Level Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction and has received an unprecedented four Degree Apprenticeship offers in Quantity Surveying, accepting a Degree Apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying atย Bowmer and Kirkland Ltd highlighting the growing demand from employers for technically skilled young people.

Alongside Layla, all T Level students studying T-Level Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction achieved Distinctions or Distinction*.

The College is also celebrating the success of several Engineering T Level students, including 18 year old Marshall Whitney who has secured a Distinction and will be taking up his place at Salford University to study Architecture and Design.

Marshall, from Pendle, was amongst a group of Blackburn College students who took part in a life-changing overseas visit to Aruba, through The Turing Scheme, the UKโ€™s global programme funding students and apprentices to experience international study and work placements across the world.

Their international experience combined with industry-focused technical training provides a compelling example of how T Levels are equipping students with the skills, confidence and global outlook employers are seeking.

Rachel Tarplee, Blackburn College Vice Principal, Curriculum and Quality said: โ€œWe are absolutely delighted at the incredible achievements of our students across all areas of study.

โ€œIn particular, we are blown away by the impressive, record-breaking results for our T level cohorts, particularly across Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction.

โ€œAfter two years of study, to have all students on that course achieve Distinctions or a Distinction*, five of whom are female, is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and teaching staff.

โ€œBlackburn Collegeโ€™s commitment to delivering high-quality technical education, partnering with a host of top level industry and academic partners, is reflected in todayโ€™s results.

Rachel added: โ€œWe are also pleased to see that as well as going on to do a variety of amazing things in the workplace, some of our students will now be progressing on to higher education through degree study at university.

As students received their eagerly anticipated exam results, CEO and Principal Dr Fazal Dad, CBE, praised their hard work, dedication and perseverance.

โ€œThe College is once again celebrating another brilliant year and we are rightfully proud of all our students and are pleased to be able to share such positive results across the Blackburn community and beyond.

โ€œIt is particularly rewarding to see the success of our T level offering and the fantastic achievements of those students who made the decision to embark on technical further education.

โ€œOur varied and comprehensive curriculum here at Blackburn College means we can offer any student the chance to embark on study however that form takes, be it academic or technical.

โ€œWe place great emphasis on providing different pathways in education and skills training for all our students, leading them towards developing careers across all sectors.

โ€œWe take great pride in having the most outstanding, state of the art facilities and equipment combined with quality teaching.

Dr Dad added: โ€œAs our new academic year approaches next month, we cannot wait to welcome our new and returning students when enrolment starts here on next week.

โ€œWe are deeply committed to educating and supporting all our students across the whole community.โ€

As our students prepare for exciting futures at university, in apprenticeships and in employment, we're incredibly proud of everything they've achieved!

Enrolment for new students opens Thursday 20 August 2026.
