Overview
This course provides an introduction to the care of a variety of domestic animals. This is a very practical course, and areas of study include feeding, cleaning and handling animals as well as units covering health and safety and skills development in land-based industries.
Time is spent both in the classroom and working with the College's animal collection.

You will study the following modules:

Support the preparation and provision of feed for small animals

Help promote the health and welfare of animals

Contribute to the daily care and management of animals

Assist with the safe handling, movement, and housing of animals

Understand the fundamental principles of animal care

Entry Requirements
Students must have 3 GCSEs grade 1 -2 including English or Maths or equivalent Entry Level 3 qualification along with a keen interest in the subject. Some practical knowledge of small animal care is desirable.

How will I be assessed?
There will be a mixture of practical assessments and class room work. Time is spent both in the classroom and working with the College's animal collection.
