- Students will learn how to safely build, alter, inspect and dismantle a wide range of scaffold structures while working in accordance with health and safety legislation, industry guidance and risk management procedures. They will also develop practical skills in scaffold design interpretation, equipment handling, hazard control, inspection reporting, and protecting both site personnel and the public
Once qualified with scaffolder status you could have the opportunity to work off-shore or overseas. Your Apprenticeship will cover safe working practices in construction, erect and dismantle of basic scaffold structures, erect and dismantle Aluminium Mobile Towers, knowledge of building methods and construction technology, safe use of harness and fall prevention methods and manual handling in the scaffolding industry. To undertake an Apprenticeship in scaffolding you must work well in a team, be able to follow instructions, be a good communicator and work responsibly.

Overview
This apprenticeship provides the skills and knowledge needed to become a qualified scaffolder, with opportunities to work for local contractors or on major projects such as petrochemical plants, power stations and offshore installations. You will learn safe working practices, health and safety legislation, hazard control measures, scaffold inspection and reporting, and how to erect, alter and dismantle a wide range of scaffold structures, including towers, birdcages, cantilevers and pavement gantries. The programme also covers manual handling, fall prevention, harness use, effective communication and construction technology, helping you develop the teamwork, responsibility and practical skills required for a successful career in the scaffolding industry. -

English and Maths
You will only need to complete English and Maths Functional Skills if you are unable to provide evidence of your GCSE qualifications or if your existing grades are just below the required entry requirements.
Apprentices who began their apprenticeship training when aged 19+ will no longer be subject to the mandatory requirement to study towards and achieve English and maths. However, for apprentices aged 19+, the apprentice or their employer can still choose for the apprentice to study towards an English and maths qualification.
The Functional Skills programme runs as an addition to the time you are already required to spend doing your off-the-job training. Following a thorough assessment process, we will select a learning plan suitable for you, which will be either 2-weeks full-time or 12-weeks (one day per-week) each for English and/or maths.

How will I be assessed?
At the end of your Apprenticeship you’ll go through an end-point assessment (EPA) and be graded based on:
- Multiple choice test
- Practical assessment with questions

What can I do next?
This Apprenticeship has been designed to allow the individual to meet the requirements of the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS). Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship the Scaffolder will be eligible to apply for a CISRS Scaffolder card. Progression from the Level 2 Apprenticeship could lead to undertaking Advanced Scaffolder training. This apprenticeship also provides a foundation for the Scaffolder to further develop their career by moving into Supervision, Management, Scaffold Inspection, Scaffold Design, Estimating, Surveying, Health and Safety or Training.
