Overview
To help you ensure you are employing the correct number of First Aiders within the workplace we have launched a First Aid calculator. This calculator will simply allow you to calculate how many First Aiders you need and the levels of training they require. This 6 hour course is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide First Aid when dealing with an emergency situation.
Please note: we can deliver this course for a group on your premises, or here at college, for up to 10 people the cost will be £640.00 or for a maximum of 12 people the cost will be £768.00 (additional travel costs apply).

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but learners should possess communication skills sufficient to allow them to address the assessment requirements of the qualification.

What will I study?
The course covers the following topics:- Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider.
- Be able to assess an incident.
- Provide first aid to a non breathing casualty
- Provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty.
- Provide first aid to a casualty who is choking.
- Provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding.
- Provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock.
- Provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries including burns and scalds.
The course consists of:
- Practical assessments – learners will be observed by the trainer throughout the one-day course.
- Theory assessment – learners will complete a multiple-choice assessment paper.
Upon successful completion of the course and assessments, learners will be awarded the Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
The qualification is valid for three years. To remain qualified, learners must retake the course and successfully complete the assessments before the qualification expires.
