  • Overview

This course provides the foundation for anyone wishing to pursue any kind of career in health and social care, particularly those without the GCSE entry requirements for the T-Level.

It is comprised of classroom based sessions and work placements with the focus on providing services that meet care values and the principles of care, and why these should be the centre of everything we do within this sector.

You will attend compulsory work placements as part of your course, which will be in adult and children’s settings to give them a broad overview of what happens in actual work environments which will give you a huge advantage by gaining an in-depth real experience.

You will have weekly tutorials which will enable you to reflect on your progress and support you during your course.

  • What will I study?

The classroom sessions consist of seven units which offers you a good grounding for a career in the health and social care sector, covering subjects such as equality and diversity, communication, safeguarding, dementia and creative activities.

You will also resit maths and/or English language if a grade 4 has not already been achieved.

  • Entry Requirements

4 GCSE’s at grade 3, including maths and English Language.  Alternatively you can enter the course upon successful completion of a Level 1 course with a positive tutor reference.

During the Level 2 course, you will be required to study for your Maths and/or English Language GSCE resit as part of your study programme.

A successful DBS is also required.

  • How will I be assessed?

The course will be assessed through a series of assignments.

  • What can I do next?

After successful completion of this course you can progress to the Foundation Year T-Level or the T-Level Health dependant on achieving entry requirements.

This is the preferred choice of many students as they wish to ultimately progress to university courses. You may choose to gain employment in care settings. Roles may be within a care home, day centre, dementia unit or in the community, all working with adults.
