    The IMI Level 1 Award In Electric / Hybrid Vehicle Awareness is an introduction to electric/hybrid vehicle technology and provides you with an awareness of electric/hybrid vehicle operation.

    It is an introduction to the knowledge of safe working practices, the dangers surrounding and the precautions required to avoid potential injury when near Electric/Hybrid vehicles.

    You will study in our world-class £5.5m Regional Automotive Technology Hub (RATH), which was developed collaboratively with leading car manufacturers. The Hybrid Electric Automotive Training (HEAT) areas will provide you with state-of-the-art workshops that look and feel just like industry.

    Within our world-class facilities, you will get to work on our brand new range of electric/hybrid vehicles, enabling you to develop a future-proofed set of skills.

  • What will I study?

    The course contains one mandatory unit covering:

    • The types of Electric/Hybrid vehicles available
    • Hazard associated with the motor vehicle high energy systems
    • Working safely around Electric/Hybrid vehicles including charging

    There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification and you are not expected to have any prior knowledge or experience, however an interest in the subject area is advisable.

  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed through a combination of workshop practical, online and written assessments.

  • What can I do next?

    After this course you may consider the Level 2 qualifications and develop your knowledge of either working safely in emergency or recovery situations or within a technical role carrying out routine servicing and maintenance activities on Electric/Hybrid vehicles:
