This Level 2 qualification will enable you to make steps towards a career in the Sport and Fitness industries as well as allowing you to progress onto our Level 3 programmes or even a Sports Coaching degree at University Centre Blackburn College

Overview
The sports sector continues to grow, and it is an exciting time to get involved. We have developed close links with local sports coaching companies and Blackburn with Darwen Council, and you will also engage with a range of guest speakers.
The course consists of coursework-based units designed to develop your knowledge in key areas such as practical sports performance and analysis, fitness testing and training, leading sports activities, anatomy and physiology, outdoor adventurous activities, and the effects of exercise.
You will take part in a variety of learning experiences, including classroom-based lessons, practical sessions, leadership activities, and outdoor sessions. In addition, the course is designed to enhance the employability skills required within the sports industry.
If required, you can also study Maths and English GCSEs, which will support your progression onto a Level 3 study programme.

What will I study?

You will study a wide range of subjects related to sport, health and fitness sectors. You also will develop the fundamental and employability skills that are required to be successful in the industry and in life. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in the classroom, practical settings and outdoors.

Entry Requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at Grade 3.
If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in your Maths and English Language GCSEs you will be required to work towards a GCSE Grade 4 in these subjects as part of your study programme

The course is fully assessed through coursework using a variety of methods, including written assignments, practical observations, presentations, and more.
