Overview
This one-year course is ideal if you're interested in the exciting world of travel and tourism and want to learn more about the industry before progressing to further study or employment. You'll develop industry knowledge alongside important skills such as customer service, communication, teamwork and employability, while gaining valuable experience through projects, trips, visits and work experience opportunities.
The Level 2 NCFE Diploma in Travel and Tourism provides a broad introduction to the travel and tourism industry and helps learners understand how different sectors work together to create positive visitor experiences. You'll explore destinations, visitor attractions, travel organisations, hospitality businesses, airports, airlines and events while developing the skills needed to succeed in customer-focused roles.
A key feature of the course is the opportunity to apply learning in real-world settings. Through educational visits, industry projects and work experience opportunities, including placements within Lake District hotels, you'll gain insight into the day-to-day operations of tourism and hospitality businesses. This practical approach helps build confidence, independence and a greater understanding of the many career opportunities available within the industry.

Entry Requirements
Successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification in Hospitality or Catering. New starters require a grade 4 in English and Maths.
Additionally:
- Minimum 90% attendance on previous course
- Positive reference from previous tutor confirming good behaviour and attitude
- Good personal hygiene, positive attitude and willingness to wear professional uniforms during all sessions.
- Genuine interest in developing professional customer service skills
- Part-time job in Hospitality industry

How will I be assessed?
The course will comprise of 75% practical and 25% theory.
You will be assessed using the following methods:- Observation
- Projects
- Questioning (this could be verbal or written)
Learners will complete the requirements of the Level 2 NCFE Diploma in Travel and Tourism through a combination of mandatory and optional units.
The course focuses on applying learning through practical activities, projects, trips, visits, industry experiences and work-related learning. Students will have opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and skills across a range of travel and tourism topics throughout the programme.
