Learning in the Heart of the Caribbean
In early 2026, our Business and Engineering students embarked on an unforgettable international experience in Aruba, immersing themselves in hands‑on industry projects, cultural exploration and real‑world problem‑solving. Across the trip, Engineering learners designed and installed a rooftop rainwater‑collection system, progressing through calculations, material sourcing and on‑site construction alongside local professionals.
Business students carried out market‑research tasks in the community, promoted the San Nicolas Mural Tours, created marketing materials, and presented their findings directly to the Aruba Tourism Authority.
Cultural Insight and Community Research
Our Business and Engineering students began their Aruba experience with a full and productive day of cultural immersion and hands‑on learning. The Business group took part in the Artisa Mural Tour before beginning their market‑research project in the local community, exploring how creative industries support the island’s economy. Meanwhile, Engineering learners continued developing a rooftop rainwater‑collection and storage system. With their design and calculations complete, they moved into material sourcing and preparation for installation. It was a strong start that blended cultural understanding with real‑world project development.
Students explored local suppliers to understand the materials needed for their engineering project and why sourcing the right components is essential for safe, effective installation.
By learning directly from shop owners about product quality and suitability, students gained valuable insight into how material choices impact the success and sustainability of real‑world builds.
Real‑World Skills in Action
Engineering learners made excellent progress as they advanced through the material‑sourcing phase and began installing their rainwater‑collection system. Their work demonstrated careful planning, practical problem‑solving and growing technical confidence.
At the same time, Business students supported the promotion of the San Nicolas Mural Tours by designing promotional leaflets, preparing a presentation for the Aruba Tourism Authority and developing pitches for corporate clients. These activities strengthened their communication, marketing and client‑engagement skills while contributing to a meaningful local initiative.
Delivering Their Pitches with Confidence
Our Business learners brought their project work together by delivering their pitches to industry partners, showcasing the research, ideas and promotional strategies they had developed throughout the week.
Well‑Earned Relaxation
After a busy week of fieldwork, planning and presentations, students enjoyed time on Palm Island to relax, swim and see Aruba’s famous flamingos, a well‑deserved reward for their hard work. The trip offered a memorable balance of learning, cultural exploration and personal development, giving learners valuable insight into global business and engineering practices while creating experiences they’ll never forget.
