  • Overview

The BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Business programme is a practical, skills-focused qualification designed to give learners a foundational understanding of business while preparing them for further study, work, or independent living - typically completed over one academic year. With no external exams, assessment is entirely internal through engaging coursework and practical tasks like presentations or projects.

The programme combines business-specific topics, such as customer service and teamwork, with essential life skills like communication and organisation, making it ideal for young learners or anyone seeking an accessible entry into the business world.

  • What will I study?

For the BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Business programme you will dive into a broad and practical curriculum designed to give you a solid introduction to the business world while building skills you can use in everyday life or a future career.

You will explore topics like Being Organised, where you will learn to manage your time and plan tasks effectively, and Working with Others, which focuses on collaborating in teams, a key skill in any workplace. Units like Recording Income and Expenditure will teach you the basics of handling money, while Finding Out About Businesses in your Area will give you a chance to research real local companies and the services they provide around the Blackburn with Darwen area for the local community. Everything you study will be hands-on, tying directly to real-world business scenarios, so you’re not just learning theory but actually applying it.
