Overview
During this Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing the college will provide you with a highly structured approach to training, where you will be introduced to the basic theory and practical skills required to install and maintain modern domestic plumbing systems such as: Hot and Cold Water systems, fault recognition, maintenance and Central Heating system identification, installation and maintenance.

What will I study?

You will learn skills used within the plumbing industry such as:
- Health and Safety in Building Services Engineering
- Scientific principles for Domestic, Industrial and Commercial plumbing
- Domestic Hot & Cold Water Systems
- Sanitation & Drainage Systems
- Central Heating Systems
In addition, will develop an understanding of the technology that underpins all plumbing installation work.

Entry Requirements
You will have needed to complete the Level 1 course, have good attendance and positive tutor comments to progress on to this course.

How will I be assessed?
At the end of your programme you will be assessed by two written examinations. There is no coursework in this programme that counts towards your overall grade.

What can I do next?
Successful students could progress onto a higher level programme programme or they could move into employment within the plumbing industry, and therefore be eligible to undertake the City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating 6189-11 programme.
RECOGNITION AS A QUALIFIED PLUMBER REQUIRES COMPLETION OF A PLUMBING NVQ. WHICH CAN ONLY BE OBTAINED WHILST WORKING WITHIN THE PLUMBING INDUSTRY.

Plumber
Plumbers fit, service and repair hot and cold water systems, and heating systems in homes and businesses. They also work with gas fires and cookers.
If you want a varied job that makes good use of your practical skills and takes you out and about, this could be perfect for you.
You will need to be good at solving problems, have the ability to follow technical plans, and understand the importance of health and safety. You'll also need good customer care skills.
To become a qualified plumber you will need to complete industry-recognised training and qualifications. A common way in is through an Apprenticeship.
