We are delighted to be delivering T-Level qualifications in Digital Support and Security. This is a two-year qualification that will include a core content and an occupational specialism content that is specific to the industry alongside a high-quality industry placement.
This qualification is designed to offer you support in concentrating your learning within areas of IT. It is ideal for you if who wish to progress to a career in the Digital Sector with a focus on Digital Infrastructure, Network Cabling, Digital Support, and Cyber Security.
This programme has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to ensure that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for the real workplace. It combines classroom theory, practical learning and a minimum 315 hours of industry placement with an employer. The work placement ensures you will have real experience of the workplace.
Alongside your academic studies, you will have the opportunity to visit Universities, take part in World Skills competitions and go on trips within the UK and abroad. It is a Level 3 qualification equivalent to 3 A-Levels.

What will I study?
During the T-Level Digital Support and Security you will study:
- Core theory, concepts and skills for an industry area
- Specialist skills and knowledge for a career
- An industry placement with a local employer in the Digital Sector for a minimum of 315 hours.
Students who pass all the elements of their T-Level will get a nationally recognised certificate showing an overall grade of pass, merit or distinction. It will also set out the details of what you have achieved on the course.
Core ComponentsThe T-Level in Digital Support and Security has two mandatory core components through which you will learn about the following topics:
- Problem solving
- Introduction to digital support
- Data
- Legislation and regulatory requirements
- Business context
- Emerging issues
- Digital environments
- Security
Core Project: Employer Set Project
Depending on your specialist employment area, your employer set project would be focused upon:
- Digital Infrastructure and Network Cabling
- Cyber Security
- Digital Support Technician
Occupational Specialist Component
The Occupational Specialist Component content develops your knowledge and skills across the following areas:
- Digital Infrastructure
- Network Cabling
- Digital Support
- Cyber Security

Entry Requirements
You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 including English Language and Maths, or completion of a Level 2 course with merit (plus English Language and Maths).
You may also have achieved a vocational Technical qualification at Level 2 at Pass and above in BTEC Tech Award in Digital Information Technology.

How will I be assessed?
The core content is assessed through an examination and a practical employer-set project.
The Occupational Specialism is assessed through a project that is created in conjunction with digital employers.

What can I do next?
Once you have completed this Level 3 T-Level qualification, you could apply for a degree apprenticeship in areas such as Networking and Cyber Security. The qualification therefore supports progression to job opportunities in Digital Support and Security. Job roles could include:
- Digital Support Technician (digital applications or digital service)
- Infrastructure Technician
- IT Solutions Technician (hardware or software solutions)
- Network Cable Installer
- Cyber Security Technician
Alternatively, students could progress to Apprenticeships in areas such as Digital Infrastructure Engineer, Network Engineer, Applications Support Lead, Cyber Security Technologist, depending on their skills or experience.
Students could also progress to relevant Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes or degree programmes, such as our BSc (Hons) Networking and Cyber Security.
