This study programme will help you decide which career choice is the right one for you. Working within Health and Social Care, or Young People's organisations offers you an extremely varied and rewarding career.

    This is an exciting course for you if you would like a career working within the Health, Social Care and Young People organisations. This study programme will help you decide which career choice is the right one for you.  Working within Health and Social Care, or Young People's organisations offers you an extremely varied and rewarding career.

    Upon successful completion of your course you will gain a level 1 qualification in Health and Social Care and Children and Young People, which is awarded by CACHE, one of the most recognised awarding bodies in the UK.

    During your course you will be able to undertake work placements, which will be set up for you and located near to your home town.  Work placements will really boost your CV.

    Possible careers you can work towards include Early Years Practitioner, working within a Nursery or Primary School,  Social Worker and Support worker within a children's residential home.

  • What will I study?

    You will study:-

    • Principles in Health and Social Care
    • Healthy eating and healthy living
    • Care routines for young children
    • Health and safety
    • Protection and safeguarding
    • Human growth and development

    Depending upon your GCSE Maths and English Language grades, you will either work towards your GSCE Maths and English Language or Functional Skills in Maths and English Language.

  • Entry Requirements

    You will need to have 4 GCSEs at Grades 1 and 2 including English Language and Maths, or completion of an Entry level course.

    You will be required to work towards a GCSE Grade 4 in English Language and Maths as part of your Study Programme which we will support you through.

    You will also need to have a successful DBS check.

  • How will I be assessed?

    You will complete assignments throughout the year, inlcuding poster presentations, practical work and formal written tasks.

    You will also be visited by an assessor whilst on a work placement and you will complete exams in English and Maths.

    There re no formal exams for your level 1 qualification.

  • What can I do next?

    On successful completion of the study programme you may be given the opportunity to progress onto a level 2 qualification in Childhood Studies, you have the choice between Playwork or Early Years Educator.  Or you may wish to progress onto the level 2 course in Health and Social Care. This is subject to achieving the relevant English and Maths qualifications.

    Youl will also need to provide an excellent work placement report, a positive tutor reference and excellent attendance and punctuality.
